Our History
Avenue Road Baptist Church has been serving the Cambridge community for over 30 years. Our roots trace back to the 1850s, starting with a small Black Baptist group led by “Judge” Thompson. In 1876, South Water Street Baptist Church was founded, which later became First Baptist. We merged with Delta Park Baptist Church to form Avenue Road Baptist Church.
Our current building was dedicated in 1984, and in 2008, we expanded to add more space and improve accessibility. We’ve always been committed to community service and look forward to continuing to make a difference.
